Tour de France inspired inter branch competition for Sheffield Optometrist

A Sheffield family optometrist is getting into the spirit of the Grand Départ and the Tour de France by introducing a friendly competition between his two practices.

Alex Gage’s Crosspool practice stocks Adidas cycling eyewear and so they have ‘adopted’ the Movistar team who sport the same glasses, whereas the Woodseats practice stocks the Bolle eyewear that is favoured by the Orica Green edge team.

Keen cyclist Alex and staff from each branch will be following the Tour eagerly for its three week duration and will be tracking each team to see who wins.

Alex said: “This is such a great event for Yorkshire and for Sheffield in particular. I am very honoured to have received an invitation to meet the Movistar team ahead of the start of the tour and will spend Saturday at Harewood House.  I apologise in advance that there will be no testing on Saturday.”

Rachel Ireson, Optical Assistant at Alex Gage Woodseats, said: “It’s a nice, fun way to inject extra excitement into the Tour and both practices are hoping that Alex will buy cream cakes for the winner, and the runner up!”
