Four ways to keep your eyes healthy and protect your vision for the future

Four ways to keep your eyes healthy and protect your vision for the future

National Eye Health Week starts today and our Crosspool retinal imaging equipment supplier, Optos has shared their top tips for eye health.

To mark National Eye Health Week (20-26th September) here are four simple tips that can help protect your vision:

  1. Book Regular Exams – Attending regular check-ups with your optician should be your first port of call. Many eye diseases can be prevented or treated more successfully if detected early.
  2. Invest in Advanced Imaging – Advanced imaging technology such as optomap shows more than 82% of your retina, versus 15% in a basic exam.
  3. Get Moving – Regular exercise can help prevent eye diseases. Cardiovascular exercises lower the pressure in your eyes while increasing blood flow to the optic nerve and retina.
  4. Adopt the 20-20-20 Approach – For every 20 minutes of screen time, look away for 20 seconds and focus on something 20 metres away.
