During National Eye Health Week (NEHW) eye care charities, organisations and health professionals from across the UK join together to promote the importance of eye health and the need for regular sight tests for all and Alex is urging the people of Sheffield to get their eyes tested.
Alex said; “Worryingly, 1.8 million people in the UK are living with sight loss. For 53% of these, a simple sight test and new spectacles could really help. A sight test can detect health conditions such as diabetes or high blood pressure and early signs of conditions like glaucoma, which can be treated if found soon enough, so please book your appointment without delay.”
As an added incentive over and above the obvious health benefits, practices affiliated to the campaign are offering new or existing patients who book an eye exam before the end of National Eye Health Week the opportunity to win an iPad.
Alex continued: “The health of our eyes is so very important, and as part of the awareness drive around National Eye Health Week we are encouraging local residents to visit their independent community optician and experience the very best in eye care. Practices that are part of the campaign will be identified by a window poster promoting the iPad competition.”
